How to Drink a TYGRON® Sachet (and the Three Mistakes People Make)
To take TYGRON®, tear open one 5 g sachet, pour it into about 100 to 150 ml of warm or room-temperature water, stir for 10 to 20 seconds until no dry powder is left, and drink it straight away, ideally after a meal. Adults take 1 to 2 sachets a day, ages 7 to 18 take one, and ages 2 to 6 take half.
TYGRON® is an elderberry-flavoured daily drink built on the sclerotium of the Malaysian tiger milk mushroom (Lignosus rhinocerus), made by ORGANO with Fungitech Sdn Bhd and formulated in Sydney by Fungitech Australia Pty Ltd. Our first-time buyer's guide to TYGRON® explains the product; this page is only about drinking it well.
How do you prepare a TYGRON® sachet, step by step?
You need a cup, a spoon and water. These are the four steps on our own preparation card:
- Tear. Tear the sachet open along the top edge. Each foil sachet is one sealed 5 g serving, so there is nothing to measure.
- Pour. Pour the whole sachet into about 100 to 150 ml of water. Room temperature or warm is ideal, and cold water works too.
- Stir. Stir for roughly 10 to 20 seconds, until there are no dry clumps and the colour looks even all the way through.
- Sip. Drink it right away. We recommend taking it after a meal, though any time of day is fine.

How much water should you use for one TYGRON® sachet?
About 100 to 150 ml is our recommended serving. Use less water for a richer elderberry taste and more, 200 ml or so, for a lighter one.
Changing the water changes the taste and nothing else; the serving stays one whole sachet.
For a child aged 2 to 6 on half a sachet, use about 50 to 75 ml. If a little one pulls a face, try a touch more water first; many people say the taste reminds them of Ribena.
What are the three mistakes people make when taking TYGRON®?
Each wastes part of the serving or spoils the drink, and each is easy to avoid.
- Using boiling water. It is an easy slip with a freshly boiled kettle. Warm is fine, but excessive heat can reduce the Vitamin C in the sachet, and each sachet carries 90 mg of it. Let a hot drink cool a little before stirring the sachet in.
- Tipping the dry powder straight into your mouth. A fine dry powder can stick to a dry throat or be breathed in as you tip it, and that can set off a coughing fit. Always stir it into water first. Never give dry powder to a child; stir a child's serving fully into water or another drink until no dry powder is left.
- Leaving the bottom of the glass behind. If the drink stands, a pale layer settles at the bottom. It is not waste: it is the tiger milk mushroom itself. Give the glass another stir partway down and finish it.
Why care about the Vitamin C? MedlinePlus, the US National Library of Medicine's health library, states it plainly in its Vitamin C entry (reviewed 2025): "The body is not able to make vitamin C on its own. It does not store vitamin C." That is about Vitamin C in general, not a claim about TYGRON®.
Why is there a pale layer at the bottom of a TYGRON® drink?
Because part of TYGRON® is not meant to dissolve. The sachet carries tiger milk mushroom in two forms, both printed on the box: a Herbosomal® coated extract, which dissolves, and the sclerotium itself milled into a fine powder, which does not. ORGANO uses Herbosomal® patented liposomal encapsulation technology (patent number MY-188945-A) on the extract portion. Whole botanical powder suspends in water rather than dissolving, so it drifts down when the glass stands still.
Wong, Cheung and Wu (2003), in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, analysed the sclerotia of three mushrooms, one of them tiger milk mushroom under its older name Polyporus rhinocerus. They report that insoluble dietary fibre made up 77.4 to 94.6 percent of dry matter across the three, and that the three were carbohydrate-rich, ranging from 90.5 to 98.1 percent dry matter. The paper gives no separate figure for tiger milk mushroom alone, and it never tested a drink. Our reading, which is an inference from what "insoluble" means rather than a second finding of that paper, is simply this: a material that is mostly insoluble fibre will settle in a glass of water.
After 20 years of learning about and cultivating mushrooms, I would expect exactly this from milled sclerotium in water, so here is the plain answer: the layer is not spoilage, not mould and not a mixing fault. Stir it back through and drink the whole serving.
When is the best time of day to take TYGRON®?
We recommend right after a meal. Before a meal, or on an empty stomach, is fine too. If your stomach is sensitive, with or just after food is the gentlest start.
There is no caffeine in TYGRON®, so an evening sachet after dinner will not keep you awake. Consistency matters far more than the exact hour; pick one slot and keep to it daily.
Can you take TYGRON® on the same day as your medicine?
For most medicines, yes, with one habit worth building: leave about one to two hours between your medicine and your sachet. TYGRON® contains acacia fibre, and fibre taken at the same moment as an oral medicine can slow how much of that medicine your body takes up. Two exceptions are worth raising with your doctor or pharmacist first: blood thinners such as warfarin, aspirin or clopidogrel, because TYGRON® contains turmeric, and medicines that act on your immune system, such as those taken after a transplant or for an autoimmune condition, because beta-glucan and astragalus are traditionally associated with stimulating immune activity.
The timing point applies to fibre in food generally, not only to TYGRON®. MedlinePlus's patient guide to levothyroxine, a common thyroid medicine (last revised 2019), states that it "usually is taken once a day on an empty stomach, 30 minutes to 1 hour before breakfast", and adds: "Some foods and beverages, particularly those that contain soybeans, walnuts, and dietary fiber, may affect how levothyroxine works for you."
If you take regular medication, manage a health condition, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your doctor before starting TYGRON®, and never change a prescribed medicine because of a food. Our guide to tiger milk mushroom and medication goes into more detail, and this safety page covers the first few days.

Can I mix TYGRON® with milk or juice instead of water?
Yes. Water is the standard way, but you are free to mix it. For younger children, half a sachet stirred into milk works well, and for adults it blends easily into juice or a warm drink. Let hot drinks cool a little first, and avoid boiling water, because excessive heat can reduce the Vitamin C.
What should I do if I miss a day of TYGRON®?
Nothing to worry about. Just take your usual sachet the next day and carry on. Do not double up to make up for a missed day. TYGRON® is built for a steady daily routine, so the goal is consistency over weeks rather than a perfect record.
Can I prepare TYGRON® the night before?
It is best not to. Make it when you are ready to drink it, the way you would any freshly mixed drink. Once a sachet is opened, mix it and drink it the same day. Unopened sachets keep in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with no refrigeration needed.
Can I take more than two TYGRON® sachets a day?
Please stay within the recommended daily serving: adults take 1 to 2 sachets a day, ages 7 to 18 take 1 sachet a day, and ages 2 to 6 take half a sachet a day. Taking more will not speed anything up. TYGRON® is designed to work through consistent daily use, not through a larger dose.
