Most wellness brands talk about research. We do it. ORGANO™ and our parent company Fungitech Group run two formal academic collaborations. Here's what we're studying, where, and why it matters for what you put in your body.


Sarawak Biodiversity Centre: Ganoderma research

In partnership with the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), we run a long-term Ganoderma mushroom research programme inside a purpose-built greenhouse on Centre grounds.

Ganoderma (Lingzhi, Reishi) is one of the most studied medicinal mushrooms in the world, but most of that work happens far from where the species actually grows. Our SBC collaboration brings that research to its rightful soil. The work informs how we cultivate Tiger Milk Mushroom for TYGRON™: same scientific rigour, same biological respect, same long-cycle approach.

Universiti Teknologi MARA: mycelium materials science

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) is one of Malaysia's leading public universities. Our research collaboration with UiTM Pulau Pinang is formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding signed at the campus, and it focuses on mycelium materials science, using mushroom mycelium to build sustainable packaging and composite materials. This is the research line behind MycoPack, our sister brand under the Fungitech Group, which produces green packaging materials as a sustainable alternative to plastic.

Through this collaboration, we co-author peer-reviewed papers, share laboratory resources, and train the next generation of Malaysian mycologists working in mushroom science.

Our most recent paper, published November 2024 in Progress in Organic Coatings (Elsevier), explores beeswax and coconut oil as natural coating agents for mycelium-based composites:

Fungitech Australia Pty Ltd: Sydney research and formulation headquarters

TYGRON™ is formulated at our Sydney research headquarters, operated under Fungitech Australia Pty Ltd. The formulation work (choosing the actives, balancing the synergy blend, validating the dose, designing the Herbosomal® absorption system) happens here, on Australian soil, under Australian formulation standards.

That's the Australian half of "Australian Science. Malaysian Heritage." It's the rigour we hold every batch to, and the reason TYGRON™ reaches you the way it does.


What's next

Our upcoming research roadmap focuses on two priorities:

  1. Cultivating higher-potency commercial strains of Tiger Milk Mushroom and Ganoderma. Better strains, cleaner active-compound profiles, the next generation of medicinal mushroom raw material grown under our own protocols.
  2. Continuing product development at our Sydney research headquarters: translating wellness and absorption science into the next ORGANO™ products beyond TYGRON™.

Mushroom science isn't done. The Malaysian biome alone holds species we haven't fully characterised. We'll keep studying the ones that matter to wellness, for as long as the mushrooms keep teaching us.
